Helen Whately

Welcome to my website

Thank you for electing me as your MP. I will fight your corner, be your voice in Parliament and make sure I'm on hand to help when you need me

Supporting our local NHS

I’m putting my experience in healthcare to good use, working to improve the NHS so everyone gets excellent care when they need it

Faster broadband and better mobile coverage

Broadband is a modern essential, but too many rural communities are getting left behind. Mobile coverage is also notoriously bad in the countryside. I want all parts of my constituency to have superfast internet connections and access to 4G.

Standing up for Kent's farmers

Farming is at the heart of rural life, but it's a tough business, so I'm determined to fight for farmers.

Ban lorry fly-parking

We need more parking spaces and tougher rules to end the noise, littering and anti-social behaviour associated with fly-parking

Better roads to keep Kent moving

Brenley Corner is one of the most dangerous and congested junctions in the UK. We need investment in our roads to tackle traffic and stop the M20 closing under Operation Stack

NEWS FLASH

We know from experience how bad it can be when the M20 shuts down all night. Back in November there was a week of dreadful delays caused by overnight closures – with children missing lessons and businesses losing money from late deliveries and people not getting to work on time.

Now the M20 London-bound is scheduled to close between Junction 8-9 from 8pm to 6am from Saturday 9th February to Monday 11th March so that barriers can be installed in preparation for Operation Brock. Narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction will operate during the day from 12th February to 11th March.
