I was delighted to welcomed Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak to Maidstone Hospital this week.

The hospital is home to the Kent Oncology Centre, which is delivering some of the best cancer treatment in England.

The centre is part of Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust which is one of only a handful of hospital trusts in the country to meet the national standard for treating cancer patients within 62 days.

Thanks to the hard work of staff and volunteers, the centre has maintained its reputation for excellent cancer care throughout the pandemic. It fact, it went further and reduced waiting times for many patients.

Getting a cancer diagnosis is some of hardest news anyone can hear. People around Maidstone should be confident that they are in the best possible hands.

I’m determined to help the hospital build on this success and expand its work so that even more people can benefit.

We’re committed to tackling Covid backlogs with £39 billion investment in health and care services over the next three years.

This extra funding will help people get the care they need when they it, and mean doctors and nurses have more time to focus on treating people.

Fighting for accountability from South East WaterSouth East Water’s response to the recent water outages was abysmal. Thousands of people were without water for days, forced to buy water from supermarkets or drive a two hour round trip all the way to Headcorn.
