Telling SFM radio my views on Highsted Park

I recently discussed the Highsted Park development with Tony Weaver on @SFM Radio

Of course I recognise the need for housing, but this development - of over 8,000 new homes - is another thing altogether. Residents are rightly concerned about the impact it’ll have. Developments like this should take place in already-urban areas where they have the infrastructure to cope, not isolated rural areas on greenfield and agricultural land. An example of this is Southern Water’s recent acknowledgment of the poor sewage network in Teynham even before the added pressure of new homes.

The development’s Planning Inquiry is now well under way and once it’s complete, Angela Rayner will make a decision on whether or not it goes ahead. We’re hearing statements from the housing developer, Swale Borough Council (who are objecting to the development), the Teynham & Highsted Community Action Group, and the Five Parishes Group, amongst others.
