Small business roundtable meetings get underway

Helen in Faversham

Small businesses are the lifeblood of our economy.

That’s clear to see in Faversham where shops, traders, and pubs are the beating heart of the town.

Last week I hosted the first in a series of roundtable meetings with small businesses in Faversham to hear from businesses first-hand about their concerns and what I can do to help.

The meeting follows on from my visits on Small Business Saturday at the end of last year in which a number of local shops and traders expressed an interest in being part of a roundtable forum.

It was clear from the discussion that we need to encourage people back into Faversham again, including fixing problems with parking and promoting our town as a destination for visitors.

I know many businesses are struggling with costs which is why we’re cutting business rates and increasing the Employment Allowance.

I plan to host these meetings quarterly from now on. If you’re a small business and would like to take part then please get in contact with me at helen.whately.mp@parliament.uk

These are challenging times, but Faversham has so much going for it. I’m determined to help local businesses, and our town, achieve their potential.

Funding boost for local schools

Monday, 16 May, 2022

I’m delighted that two local schools in Faversham and Mid Kent are getting funding to upgrade their buildings.

Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School and Sheldwich Primary School have both been successful in the latest round of funding from the Condition Improvement Fund (CIP).
