Junction 8 business park rejected again

Plans to build a 47,000sqm business park on the edge of the Area of Outstanding Natural beauty have once again been thrown out by the Planning Committee at MBC.

Protecting this beautiful part of the countryside from a completely inappropriate development is the right decision.

I had been urging Councillors to stick to their guns, and lobbied Communities Secretary Sajid Javid about this, and I’m glad that the Committee listened.

It will now head to the Council's Planning Referrals Committee and I urge them to respect the views of the Planning Committee, and defend the appeal.

What we really need is strong defences against development at Junction 8 included in Maidstone’s Local Plan, so we don’t have to keep going through this.”
