I won't let commuters be railroaded

Performance on Southeastern trains is woeful. So I welcome plans to split the franchise, as long as it improves service for passengers.

The Department of Transport is proposing that inner suburban services should be taken over by TFL and outer suburban services will remain the responsibility of the Government.

If TFL can improve things on the London part of the network then there will be knock-on benefits for commuters in Kent. But I do have some concerns that the new partnership will cause confusion.

I'm also worried that services outside might be disadvantaged, since they would be a lower priority for the Mayor of London with London vioters to think about.

I've written to the Rail Minister Claire Perry outlining my concerns. Click on the attachment below to read the letter.
