Helen's letter to Angela Rayner

Like you, I want to know why Angela Rayner has seized planning powers away from Swale Borough Council to make the decision about Highsted Park herself.

I have sent her the above letter which you can also open as a PDF if you scroll down to the attachments below. I will keep you up-to-date with her reply.

(Edited on 17th November 2024)

Get your diggers off my fields!

We now know why the Deputy Prime Minister seized the Highsted Park development decision from Swale Borough Council – she was asked to by my Labour neighbour. He failed to mention this to me, even though most of the development is in my constituency not his. You can read his letter to her if you scroll down to the attachments below.

I keep pressing the Government on how they plan to safeguard the Best and Most Versatile land from developments. But they continue to evade questions and fob me off, saying it’s a matter for the local council – when they know they took the decision out of Swale’s hands. I won’t let them off the hook and will continue to push to get the answers we deserve.
