Helen's letter to Angela Rayner

I want assurances that the Deputy Prime Minister will safeguard our farmland

I have sent a letter to the Deputy Prime Minister and Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government: the Rt Hon Angela Rayner MP.

In it I press for assurances that the protection of agricultural land will be a material consideration by whoever determines the Highsted Park planning application.

My letter is attached below.

Also, Cllr Julien Speed and Cllr Lloyd Bowen are pushing for the decision-maker on Highsted Park to visit the site to see the impact the development would have on the local area.

Among other things, the decision-maker must appreciate how narrow the country lanes are and how rammed they can get at certain times of the day.

They tabled a motion which successfully passed. Their motion is also attached below.

Who's responsible for battery safety at Cleve Hill?

Wednesday, 4 June, 2025
I recently visited the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero to meet with the Minister for Energy about solar battery arrays. I wanted to know that everything would be done that should be to check that batteries at Cleve Hill Solar Farm are safe before they’re switched on.
