As your MP, I am constantly inspired by the people of Faversham and Mid Kent who quietly go above and beyond to help others. That’s why I launched the Unsung Heroes Awards – to shine a light on those who make our community a better place, not for recognition, but simply out of kindness and generosity.
I was overwhelmed by the response: over 80 heartfelt nominations poured in, each telling the story of someone, a group of people or an organisation who gives their time, energy, or even their own resources to support others. Choosing the winners and those highly commended was incredibly difficult. In the end, I focused on recognising those who receive the least formal recognition to make sure that our quietest heroes are finally celebrated.
The awards ceremony, held at the beautiful Doddington Place Gardens, was a wonderful occasion. I am grateful to our hosts for providing such a stunning venue, and to the Kent Garden Show for their sponsorship which made the event possible. Most of all, I want to thank everyone who took the time to nominate someone special – these awards are about you and your stories.
Whether you were a winner, highly commended, or nominee, you really do make a difference to our community and my constituency. Your impact does not go unnoticed, and I am deeply grateful for all that you do. Together, we are creating a better community to live and work in – one Unsung Hero at a time.
