All Kent MPs who are backing the campaign

Denying patients with serious illnesses temporary Blue Badges is as undignified as it is unfair.

That’s why I’m supporting the Kent Messenger's ‘Blue Badge Battle’ campaign.

As Care Minister, I witnessed the toll that cancer treatments and other serious illnesses can take – often resulting in short-term disabilities, fatigue and significant immobility. For many, this is the most difficult and distressing experience they’ll ever face. Yet people in this situation don’t qualify for a Blue Badge under current rules.

I’m urging the Government to review the rules and make the system fairer for those with serious illnesses.

Blue badges should only be issued to those who truly need them – but that includes people who need them if only for a short time.

Blue Badges are not a luxury; they make all the difference to whether someone can keep their life going while suffering from an illness or undergoing treatment.
