We’re incredibly lucky in Faversham to have our own theatre, but we need to make more use of it.
That’s why I’m backing plans to expand the Arden Theatre.
The theatre is looking to add a double story extension onto the existing building next to the Faversham Pools, which would give the theatre a new multi-purpose studio.
Last week I visited the theatre to see how the £500,000 expansion plans would improve the theatre and benefit the local community.
The plans have been granted planning permission, but the theatre needs to raise the money required to turn the plans into reality. You can view the plans here.
The Arden Theatre is already doing fantastic work with touring productions, holiday clubs and its youth theatre programme.
Their ambitious plans to expand will help Jo and Richard Andrews build on this good work and reach even more people.
As a former Arts Minister I know the importance of art and culture to the local economy and community – and Faversham is no exception.
